8) Cristiano Ronaldo
The Portugal captain has every chance of moving higher up this list as at 29 years of age he is only just reaching the pinnacle of his powers. He has already been voted World Player of the Year twice, and reached 100 league goals and 200 official goals faster than any player in Real Madrid history. Seen by his detractors as a self-fulfilling narcissist, Ronaldo has shown he can perform on the most important stages.
7) Zinedine Zidane
Zidane’s career ultimately ended in disgrace after a head butt on Marco Materazzi earned him a red card in the 2006 World Cup Final. However, Zidane will be remembered as the lynchpin to the French national team which won the 1998 World Cup and 2000 European Championship. Part of the Galactico era at Real Madrid, he won his only Champions League with them in 2002.
