Cheryl R. James better known as Salt and member of the hip hop trio Salt-n-Pepa. She formed the group in 1984 with Pepa, before DJ Spinderella joined two years later. She also appeared in the 1987 movie “Who’s the Man?” She participated in the recording of the gospel album God’s Property, one of the best selling gospel albums in history. She collaborated with Kirk Franklin and God’s Property in the song “Stomp.”

Born Sandra Denton, the Jamaican-born American rapper and actress is one of the two original members of the female rap group Salt-n-Pepa. Formed in 1984 before Deidra “Spinderella” Roper joined in 1986. The group released a total of five albums; after disbanded in 2002, Pepa joined the cast of “The Surreal Life” in 2005. She also appeared in “Joe’s Apartment,” “First Time Felon” and “Oz.” She also had several guest appeareances in television sitcoms. She also had her own reality show on VH1 titled “Let’s Talk About Pep.”
