6) Lionel Messi
Permanently embroiled in a battle with Cristiano Ronaldo to be considered the greatest player currently active, the diminutive Argentine was integral to Barcelona’s domination under Pep Guardiola. Four times winner of the Ballon d’Or and already Barcelona’s top all-time goalscorer, the only thing that could curtail Messi’s career is the worrying number of injuries he has recently suffered from.
5) Alfredo Di Stéfano
Synonymous with Real Madrid, Di Stéfano was part of the side that won five consecutive European Cups in the 50’s. He is Real Madrid’s second all time highest goalscorer and the Real Madrid Castilla’s stadium is named after the club’s legendary striker.
