8) Ross Barkley, 21
Much like his teammate, John Stones, Barkley benefited from the appointment of Roberto Martinez as Everton manager. Under David Moyes the youngster made a handful of appearances and enjoyed mixed loan spells at Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United. Barkley was integral for Everton last season as they gained their most points in the Premier League era; this resulted in him being shortlisted for the PFA Young Player of the Year. In addition, Roy Hodgson named Barkley in his World Cup squad and Everton handed him a new four-year deal worth £65,000 a week. Manchester City has been linked with a move for Barkley in recent months, and it is thought a bid of £30-million would convince Everton to sell.
