2) Alisher Usmanov – Arsenal – £11.1 Billion
The Russian started his career in metal and mining production; he has since gone on to invest in number of different industries, including the social network Twitter. Usmanov has been a vocal shareholder at Arsenal since investing in the club. He has criticised Stan Kroenke and his fellow board members for a lack of investment which has seen the club fall behind their rivals in the chase for silverware.
1) Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan – Manchester City – £18.9 Billion
Sheikh Mansour, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affair in the UAE, comes from an incredibly wealthy family who are worth an estimated combined £100 Billion. He owns an oil company amongst other lucrative investments.
In 2008, Mansour purchased Manchester City from Thaksin Shinawatra. Since then he has followed in Roman Abramovich’s footsteps and established his team as a dominant force in English football, although they are yet to become as powerful on the European stage.
