1. China – 1,367,360,000

The population of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) was 1,367,360,000 as on October 18, 2014. That is approximately around 19 percent of the world population. Located in East Asia, China covers approximately 9.6 million square kilometers. It also has the world’s largest standing army.

2. India – 1,261,130,000

As on October 18, 2014 the population of the largest democracy in the world was 1,261,130,000. That is around 17.4 percent of the world population. The Republic of India is the seventh largest country by area. It has the third largest standing army in the world.
