Many people seem to think that having great skin starts with purchasing the most expensive beauty products or using the most luxuriously sourced ingredient they can find – while this may be true in certain cases, most of the time it is not. Having great skin does not start with applying products on, but rather in taking the products off. A rule to thumb to always remember is that taking off your makeup at the end of the night should equate to the same amount of time that it took for you to apply it on in the morning. Many women spend 15 to 30 minutes in the morning getting ready for work, they should also use the same amount of time removing the makeup and prepping their skin before bed.
Here is a Quick Guide you should build into your nightly routine to ensure healthy skin:
(1) Whether you use makeup or not, it is always a good idea to use a makeup wipe or a cleansing cloth to clean your face. These wipes can be found at any local drug or department store such as Walmart. If you don’t wear makeup and wonder why you still need to clean your face, environmental pollutants that we are all exposed to can easily clog your pores and affect the quality condition of your skin.
(2) Use a good cleanser to help remove away impurities. You may think that’s what the initial wipes were for but don’t forget that there are deeper residue that may have been left behind from the wipes. Scrub the cleanser all along your T-Zone and areas that might be prone to acne, this includes giving your eyebrows a good scrub and even along your jaw line.
3) After you have thoroughly cleanse your face, use a clean towel to pat your face dry. Try to refrain from rubbing your face since this may aggravate any existing skin conditions and irritate the face.
4) Once your face is nice and dry use a good moisturizer and allow it to soak into your skin before your hit the pillow!
