In the year 1993, Daimler-Benz partnered with Swatch watch maker SMH to create a funky city car that would be designed by SMH and engineered by Daimler. The Smart car debuted in 1998 in nine European nations and was very popularly.
The Smart car brand is continuing its takeover as Daimler Benz pulls the curtain back on both the 2015 Smart Fortwo and Forfour. These tiny, cute-looking economic cars have witnessed a slew of upgrades, from performance to aesthetics.
Both the models (2-door and 4-door) will be available with three cylinder engines from Mercedes Benz. These engines pump out your choice of 60 hp, 71 hp or 90 hp. All the three options are available in either a 5-speed manual transmission or a twamic automatic dual clutch transmission.
The cars’ optimized De Dion rear axle helps spring travel. The front axle improves the turning radius. These cool models should be available in Europe by the end of the year. The manufacturers are offering 40 different color combinations. So you have choice. Fortwo will be available in the US by the fall of 2015. Forfour will not be available in the US. Many car lovers are waiting to buy these cute automobiles.
