With an average national salary of just under $35,000 per year entry level dancers and choreographers are earning 3% more than the national salary while those who are more experienced are earning only 1% more. The highest paid professional dancers are earning over $30 an hour, though these are highly experienced dancers only. Bars and nightclubs pay their dancers roughly $8 per hour. The lowest paid choreographers earn roughly an $18,000 yearly salary.

The city a dancer/choreographer works affects how much they earn per year. Those working as a dancer/choreographer in Manhattan get paid better than their counterparts in any other city in the U.S. Those who work in Miami as a dancer/choreographer make the smallest salaries in the profession. Dancers/choreographers working in Washington D.C. earn slightly less per year than those who do the same job in Manhattan. In general, the larger and more populated U.S. cities pay a higher salary to their dancers and choreographers than the smaller and less populated cities.
