6. Stan Kroenke ($5.7 billion), Denver Nuggets
The Nuggets owner is a self-made billionaire, who has been able to parlay his fortune into ownership of a team in every major North American sport, excluding baseball. In addition to the Nuggets, he also owns the NFL’s St. Louis Rams and the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche. Kroenke is heavily invested in soccer, owning Arsenal of the English Premier League and MLS’ Colorado Rapids.
5. Rich DeVos ($6.4 billion), Orlando Magic
DeVos amassed his wealth by co-founding the direct sales titan Amway. DeVos was able to strike while the iron was hot and purchased the Magic a mere two years after they initially joined the NBA. By acting quickly, DeVos was able to secure the sale for a mere $85 million, which is roughly 10 percent of what the franchise is currently worth today.
