Comoros suffers from infant mortality, hunger and increase in population. The nation gained independence from France in 1975. Since then it has witnessed around 20 coups or coup attempts.
3) Timor-Leste (GHI: 29.8)
Timor-Leste may have gained independence, but its people are among the poorest in the world. Around 90 percent of the population does not have enough food to eat between November and March every year. The nation suffers from drought-like conditions. Children in Timor-Leste are particularly vulnerable to hunger. Around half of the nation’s children are chronically malnutritioned.
