8) Sven-Goran Eriksson – £5.9-million
Eriksson has always been able to negotiate himself excellent contracts and 2014 has been no different in that sense. The Swede led Guangzhou to 3rd place in the Chinese Super League before leaving to join state-owned Shanghai. His deal at Shanghai is rumoured to be the best of his career, if Eriksson sees out all three years of the deal he could pocket himself a whopping £15-million. At 66-years-old it could be the last big payday of his successful, if journeyman, managerial career.
7) Andre Villas-Boas – £6.2-million
It is fair to say that Andre Villas-Boas has not struggled to get over his dismissal by Tottenham. The Portuguese manager has been rebuilding his reputation as one of Europe’s bright young managers in Russia. Villas-Boas won his first six matches in charge of Zenit Saint Petersburg, but this was not enough to win them the Russian Premier League title. His basic wage of £6.2-million per year is supplemented by a number of bonuses depending on the team’s performance.
