Dr. Dre owes much of his wealth to the enormously successful Beats by Dr. Dre headphones with currently account for 65% of the premium headphone market. Following on from the success of the headphones Beats Electronic has launched an online-streaming service called Beats Music to rival Spotify’s domination of the market. He is now worth $780 million after Apple acquired Beats headphone for $3 billion, a company he co-founded.

Sean Combs is also a rich African American with a net worth of $700 million. He has his own clothing line and his own record label. He is currently the richest hip hop artist on the planet. Diddy owns a 50% share of the profit from the Ciroc vodka brand he helped to develop, whilst his latest major equity stake in the new television network Revolt TV could see him become hip-hop’s first billionaire recording artist.
