Middle Eastern economies range from super rich nations (like Qatar) to really poor nations (like Yemen).

Here is the five poorest countries in the Middle East, ranked according to their GDP per capita (PPP).

5) Egypt – GDP per capita: $6,714

Although considered one of Africa’s richest nations, in the Middle East Egypt is the fifth poorest. Poverty in Egypt has been increasing at alarming levels. High population growth, high unemployment and ineffective policies are the main reasons for poverty. Around 44.4 percent of the Egyptian population is in the range of near poor to extreme poor.
