3. Peacock Feather Wedding Dress – $1.5 million
One of the most impressive and innovative designs for a wedding dress comes from Vera Wang. Striving to produce a unique creation, her material of choice wasn’t silk or satin, but surprisingly, peacock feathers. Close to 2.009 pieces were hand sewn to the base fabric by no less than eight craftsmen, in a painstakingly long period of time – over two months. Error free precision was required in order to give the finished product a natural feel and flow but the effort paid off, when the dress was unveiled at Nanjing, the capital of east China’s Jiangsu province. However, the price tag for this head-turner didn’t come cheap – it costs over 1.5 million dollars.
4. Danasha Luxury Gown – $1.5 million
Jad Ghandour and Danasha Luxury wanted to create a jaw-dropping gown which would amaze everyone not only because of the diamonds and gold used for its creation, but also for it’s incredible delicacy and unique style. The gown contains 1500 diamonds and 500gr of pure 18k gold. Trying to avoid any discomfort that the wearer might feel, a special technique was devised for making the gold pieces, without compromising quality or looks. As a result, the diamonds were laboriously hand sewn, while the processed gold was delicately attached to the dress. The `Danasha Luxury Gown’ was unveiled at the Miami International Fashion Week, during Jad Ghandour’s fashion show.
5. Kate Middleton’s Wedding Dress – $400.000
Designer Sarah Burton had one of the most difficult tasks in the world – to make Kate Middleton’s wedding gown. Pressed by the fact that her creation would be the centerpiece of the wedding, she decided to keep a minimalistic style instead of over-adorning the dress, a decision that paid off in the end.
Made from luxurious fabrics – French Chantilly, ivory, white satin gazar, and English Cluny lace – the dress had a stunning appearance. One of the most surprising facts about it is that the lace appliqué bodice was decorated with individually symbols that represented each of Great Britain’s regions – lace roses for England, thistles for Scotland, Shamrocks for Ireland and Daffodils for Wales. Adding to the overall flair of the creation were the long, delicate lace sleeves and the svelte build of the dress which embraced beautifully Kate’s body. The delicate dress is valued at $400.000.
