The UK Royal family has always been known as a family who wear the newest designs, and of course just designs of the brands of the highest, most expensive value and always a customized design that you won’t see anywhere else. With the welcoming of Kate Middleton (former top model), fashion within the Royal Family has gotten even more important.
Who designs the Royal clothing?
There are a lot of famous designers who have been designing or are still designing for the Royal household. The one we can all remember is probably the designer of Kate Middleton’s wedding dress; the house of Alexander McQueen.
A major figure we probably don’t know is the Queen’s personal dresser. Angela Kelly has been the personal dresser of HM the Queen since 1994. She’s done a bang on job with dressing the queen. There is even a complete process where they test how a dress moves in a breeze.
How to dress like a Royal?
I have to admit that dressing exactly like a Royal will cost you a lot of money, which even the richest 1% can’t afford. There are a couple of things you need to take into account when trying to dress like a Royal. First up is quality. It’s all about quality, quality and quality. The fabric needs to be of the richest, highest quality to fool anyone into thinking you are a Royal.
The second most important thing is a unique design. Kate and William went on a trip to Australia last month; rumor is she spent a whopping $ 55.000 on her outfits during this 19 day trip.
All in all it means you need a large amount of cash to pay for a Royal outfit. It’s being said that each Royal member has his or her own dresser. The queen, of course, has her own team!
The third and final rule: don’t ever dare wearing the same outfit twice.
Where do I buy the Royal outfits?
They are not for sale obviously. There’s a lot of inspiration you can get from a number of exhibitions where you can check out the clothing of the Royals. All exhibitions are in London. You could always shop at the most known and most expensive English designers, among them are Vivienne Westwood (one of the queens’ favorites), Stella McCartney and Burberry.
What will it cost?
Well, make sure you bring a bunch of credit cards, because the outfits don’t come cheap! An average Royal outfit will cost you in the region of $4000 and $6000.
