Apple is at the forefront of electronics in recent years, with releases such as the iPod, iPhone and iPad revolutionising their respective markets. Not only are Apple products among the most technologically advanced, but they are also some of the most expensive in the world.
The majority of these products are customised editions of Apple products which have been embellished with diamonds and gold, which makes the already mindboggling prices charged by Apple seem reasonable.
This list contains the five most expensive Apple products money can buy, and you’ll certainly need a lot of it to be able to get your hands on all of these.
5) iDiamond iPod Shuffle – $40,000
This product can actually be purchased from the Apple Store, but it’ll certainly set you back a substantial amount if you were to purchase it. With the iPod Shuffle usually one of the cheaper Apple products available, this player is different, with 430 diamonds featured on the body of the iPod. You can’t be using normal headphones with this too, hence Apple include headphones encrusted with 118 diamonds.
4) Stuart Hughes MacBook Air Supreme Ice Edition – $200,000
This is the first of four Stuart Hughes Special Edition Apple products on this list. The Air Supreme Ice Edition is made of pure platinum, weighing in at 2.5 kilograms. The iconic Apple logo receives the Stuart Hughes treatment too, as it is embellished with 53 diamonds, weighing 25.5 carats. Only 10 of these MacBook Airs were made, so expect them to become even more expensive.
3) Stuart Hughes iPod Touch Supreme Fire Edition – $330,000
This iPod Touch can boast about featuring more precious gems than any other Apple product. The iPod Touch Supreme Fire Edition is encrusted with 124 diamonds, which total 75 carats, as well as being covered in 125 grams worth of 24-carat gold. Much like the MacBook Air the Apple logo on the Touch features 53 diamonds, with more diamonds featured on the home button and acting as a border on the screen. The product comes in a box made from white lacquered wood, with the inside made from Porsche Nappa leather. The iPod Touch Supreme Fire Edition is even rarer that the MacBook Air Supreme Ice Edition, with only three in existence.
2) Stuart Hughes iPad Gold History Edition – $8 million
This iPad has a total weight of 2,000 grams, with the back covered exclusively in 24-carat gold. Not content with a gold iPad, the front is made out of one of the world’s oldest rocks, Ammolite, which creates shades of green, brown and red. An extravagance that few can pay for, but those who can will see as one of the ultimate status symbols.
1) Stuart Hughes Black Diamond iPhone 5 – $15.3 million
If the iPad Gold History Edition is one of the ultimate status symbols, surely the Black Diamond iPhone 5 is one of the few products to be considered above it. Created by United Kingdom designer Stuart Hughes, the iPhone is coated in solid gold and features both black and white diamonds. The Smartphone’s centerpiece is undoubtedly the 26-carat black diamond with a chase made out of pure gold featuring a border of 550 diamonds. Hughes believes it will become the world’s most expensive phone when it is sold, and it would be difficult to argue with his assessment.
