Courtney Stodden

It’s the American dream: become famous as a 16-year-old girl who marries a 51-year-old man, prance around in scandalous attire for the world to see, follow up with extensive plastic surgery, and immortalize all of your biggest mistakes on VH1’s ‘Couples Therapy.’

Shortly after her appearance on the U.K.’s ‘Celebrity Big Brother,’ Courtney and her husband Doug split. We never saw that coming.

The Duggars

Sure, there are 21 of them. But how could we choose just one? From mom Michelle’s premature and complicated birth to her 19th child at age 43 to the Duggar’s views on everything from dating to homosexuality, the Duggar clan has always been considered controversial. But when reports surfaced that oldest son Josh Duggar had been investigated for allegedly sexually molesting five underage girls, some of whom were his sisters, ’19 Kids and Counting’ received major backlash and was pulled from the TLC lineup.

Mama June

Alana “Honey Boo-Boo” Thompson got her own reality show after her stint on ‘Toddlers and Tiaras.’ But it’s her mother, June “Mama June” Shannon, who shot to stardom with questionable parenting tactics like feeding her daughter a sugary concoction she affectionately called “Go Go Juice” to keep her lively for pageants. But in 2014 when reports emerged that June was dating a man convicted of child molestation, TLC announced the cancellation of ‘Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.’ It’s rumored that June was offered $1 million for a sex tape but she refused. Thank God for large favors.
